1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using MetadataEraser ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. MetadataEraser is operated as a free, browser-based tool for removing metadata from digital files.
2. Description of Service
MetadataEraser provides client-side tools for removing metadata from image files (JPEG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF), PDF documents, and Microsoft Word (.docx) files. All file processing occurs entirely within your web browser. The Service does not upload, transmit, store, or access your files in any way.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no guarantees about the completeness of metadata removal for every possible file variant, format version, or edge case.
3. User Responsibilities
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to modify files you process with MetadataEraser
- You should verify the output of the tool meets your requirements before sharing or publishing cleaned files
- You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- You understand that metadata removal is permanent and cannot be undone on the cleaned file
4. Intellectual Property
The MetadataEraser name, logo, website design, and original content are the property of MetadataEraser. The open-source libraries used by the tool (piexifjs, pdf-lib, JSZip, and others) are the property of their respective authors and are used under their respective licenses. You retain all rights to your own files processed through the Service.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MetadataEraser and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Use or inability to use the Service

You should always keep backup copies of original files before processing them with any metadata removal tool.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that all metadata will be removed from every file format and variant.
